Music plays an important role at Calgary Unitarians! Music Director Jane Perry and Choir Conductor Krishan Power lead a thriving music program with dozens of participants, including a non-auditioned mixed-voice choir and a new choral ensemble for more advanced singers.  Our church is also home to community choirs, a ukulele ensemble, classical and jazz concerts, and more — read on for details!

UUphonia

Come sing in UUphonia! All are welcome to join our Thursday rehearsals and perform with us in the Sunday services twice per month. UUphonia is a non-auditioned, mixed-voice choir performing a variety of secular and spiritual choral music. Music reading skills are not required to join, and the repertoire is fun and accessible. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 9:00pm in Panabaker Hall. This ensemble is featured in two large events per year: the Winter Holiday Epic Sing-Along in December and our yearly Cabaret fundraiser in April. Be part of something great!

New Choral Ensemble

This new smaller group will launch in 2023-2024 and rehearses for half an hour per week on Thursday evenings, 7:00-7:30pm. We will perform one or two intermediate-level pieces once per month for a Sunday service. Due to the limited rehearsal time, music reading skills are required to participate in this ensemble.
We will name this group together.

Instrumentalists and Vocal Soloists

We strive to create places and spaces for people to share their musical talents at Calgary Unitarians!  If you play an instrument, or if you have experience in singing solos, please contact Music Director Jane Perry to talk about possible performance opportunities within the church community.  music@calgaryunitarians.ca

My Song is a Prayer

This song was used as the anthem for the Canadian Unitarian Council’s Annual Conference in Calgary, 2013. The song was composed by Greg O’Neill, a member at Calgary Unitarians, and arranged by Calgary Unitarians Music Director Jane Perry. Please sing this, share this, and enjoy this piece with your home congregation. And please let Jane know when you sing it! Enjoy!
